For several weeks now, I've made mention of watching, listening to, and reading Christian testimonies that can stir your faith. For anyone who's interested, here is a list of my favorite testimony books. If it made the list, then it majorly impacted my life in some way.
- God's Smuggler - The amazing story of Brother Andrew smuggling bibles into communist countries during Communism's hay day. This is my favorite book, which I've read 3 times, and I'm feeling a 4th coming on!
- The Hiding Place - The true story of Corrie Ten Boom, risking her life to hide Jews from the Nazi's in Holland during WWII.
- Bruchko - The story of Bruce Olson taking the Gospel to an unreached and violent tribe in South America.
- Chasing the Dragon - The story of Jackie Pullinger taking the Gospel into a strange place called Kaloon Walled City, a lawless, no-mans-land in Hong Kong.
- The Cross and The Switch Blade - The story of David Wilkerson, the guy who started Teen Challenge, when he first moved to New York to help inner city gangsters find Jesus.
- The Heavenly Man - The incredible story of Brother Yun, being set a part as an apostle to his fellow Chinese. His story will remind you of the Apostles of the Bible.
- Spirit of the Rainforest - WARNING. This one is so graphically violent, I couldn't re-read it a second time when I tried. It is very powerful though, and tells the story of witchdoctors in South America coming to faith. It gives an incredible look into the spiritual world, but again, be warned.
- Seeking Allah Finding Jesus - The story of Nabeel Quareshi doing just what the title says, seeking to know his false god of Islam, and finding the only Son of God, Jesus. This is a great resource to learn about Islam, btw.
- Son of Hamas - The mind blowing story of Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of the man who started Hamas. Mosab saw the darkness of Hamas from the inside and turned to begin secretly working with Israel to stop Hamas attacks... before somehow becoming a Christian! This is a great way to learn about the Israel/Palestine situation from an insider.
- Leaving Buddha - The amazing story of Tenzin Lakpa, a Tibetan Buddhist monk, who ascended to greatness in his Buddhist faith, only to discover that Jesus really is the only truth. This is an amazing resource to learn about Buddhism and Hinduism
Okay... that's Ten. That has to be it, right. Wrong. Now, on to list 2!
- Evidence Not Seen - The story of Darlene Deibler Rose, a missionary who survived and saw God move in brutal Japanese prison camps during WWII
- Gay Girl Good God - The poetic and theologically deep story of Jackie Hill-Perry, coming out of the lesbian lifestyle to follow the Lord. She reads the audiobook, and she is a lyricist, so it is a real experience to listen to her read her own story.
- Unashamed - The testimony of Christian rapper, Lecrae. He also is a lyricist and narrates his own story, which is deep and exciting.
- Hiding in the Light - The story of Rifqa Bary coming to know Christ, having to escape her violent Muslim family, and getting tangled up in a public trial for her faith right her in the USA.
- Saving My Assassin - The story of Virginia Prodan, raised in Communist Romania, finding faith, and using her law practice to defend persecuted Christians. Guess what... an assassin is sent to kill her. The story is amazing.
Right now, I'm reading (actually listening to) a book called "Captive in Iran" which is turning out to be exciting and deeply moving as well. It's about two Iranian women who convert to Christ, get imprisoned for it, and see the Lord move behind bars in Iran.
I'm looking for suggestions for a NEXT book. What have you read?
