As of the writing of this email, I still haven’t seen the Main Stage performance from our VBS, so I’m glad we will have a watch party after church this Sunday, where I can actually see the whole Main Stage performance live, and so can you!
The Bible Drama Room, on the other hand, I know inside and out, and on the last night of the Bible drama room, something dawned on me during the Marvelous Moment with Meshach. Stuart (Meshach) Taylor did an object lesson with two balloons and a candle. One balloon was filled with air like a normal balloon, and it of course popped when he brought it too close to the candle flame. The other balloon had water in it, and when he brought it to the flame, the water inside the balloon protected it from popping. The outside of the balloon, however, got blackened by the flame.
The lesson was that God’s in-dwelling Holy Spirit will protect you through trials. Stuart said that the flame still touched the balloon and even made it black in spots just like how trials and difficulty are going to come to everyone and might even be painful. God doesn’t promise to keep us away from troubles. He promises to protect us through them. It dawned on me that this is an incredible lesson to teach our children. Heck, if we adults could get this, the church at large would be a better place. Unfortunately, the modern church is notorious for teaching that you can avoid troubles if you have enough faith. A better teaching is that you can endure troubles and have joy of the Holy Spirit through faith, which is what we taught our kids.
Once again, I’m proud to be a part of such an awesome church. We are setting our kids up for such success!
