Part 1: VBS
As you can see from the banner above, we're in VBS season! That's great for kids and adults alike. If you are an adult and you haven't signed up to volunteer, don't miss this opportunity to do something really fun and spiritually meaningful with fellow believers. Over the last 5 years that I've served at VBS, I've found it to be a powerful way to make deep connections with people that you might otherwise attend church with for months or years without ever getting close to. Serving along side someone is a great way to get close.
Enough about what you can get out of it, what about the kids? Our VBS tends to be deeply powerful and meaningful for the youngsters. In fact, now that my daughter is too old to ATTEND VBS, she is volunteering as a youth volunteer. That's great, and I love to see it, but one thing I was surprised by is that she wants to volunteer so badly that she literally skipped a party she was invited to, to come to the church for the VBS workday (which is happening RIGHT NOW at the church if you're reading this email right when it comes out Saturday morning. In fact, I sent this a little early, so you can still make it to the church to serve if you want).
Her desire to volunteer is not the product of fabulous parenting, I promise. It's the product of the VBS atmosphere and the Kid Church atmosphere in general being awesome.

Alright on to Part 2
On Sunday, we will be back in our Gospel of the Kingdom Series, and I ran into a tiny problem prepping the sermon. There's way too much to include in one Sunday, so I've pulled out 15 minutes of interesting teaching that had to be cut from the sermon but is too important to just leave out entirely.
