Ministry at Fort Worth Pride Fest

Today (Saturday, June 28), a team from Wellspring will be going to the Fort Worth Pride Festival to share the gospel of Jesus with whoever will talk to us. In the past, we've gone to the Dallas Pride Festival, and we were able to stand outside, handing out free waters, Gatorades, and snacks. 

This year, since the festival is smaller, there's really not a good place to set up outside, so we are trying a different approach. No waters, Gatorades, or snacks. We're just going right inside to talk to people. This is more like the regular street evangelism that we normally do, approaching people and striking up conversations. However, at the Pride Fest, there's an obvious twist. These people won't exactly be random mall-goers. They will be whoever is attending the Pride Festival for whatever reasons they decide to attend. 

Please pray that we will be spiritually and physically protected. 

Please pray that we will be able to speak the truth in loving and caring ways.

Please pray that God will lead us to the people who are desperately seeking change in their lives.

Please pray that God will give us boldness and love to share with people who are NOT seeking change in their lives but need to hear the good news of Jesus anyway.

This couldn’t wait...

Jerry, serving in the snack room at VBS As of the writing of this post, it’s 3:00 am. I woke up, realizing I hadn’t actually organized strategic prayer for Jerry Slagle yet, and this is no small matter. The original plan was to send out a VBS recap email, but that can wait until next week. Jerry has been fighting cancer for more than two years. Recently, he was given a very sad and scary report from his doctors that he only has limited time left, less than a year. However, two weeks before he got the report, a person on our prayer team had a dream that we believe was from God, telling us that “we need to pray for Jerry.”  Here is the text from that dream: Two weeks ago I had a very intense dream about Jerry Slagle.  In the dream, I knew that he was in a life or death scenario (I assumed the cancer). From the Pastor's Desk In the sermon "The Job Description of a Disciple," I shared one of my favorite Christian practices: listening to, reading, and watching great Christian testimonies. I consider this a spiritual practice because it stirs my faith to hear how my brothers and sisters in Christ have gone before me, setting excellent examples of laying down their lives for Jesus.  Here is a list of testimonies and resources that could keep you reading, listening, and watching for years to come!
