Kenya 2025 day 2
I preached a message that Ronnie first invited me to preach three years ago, the story of how I became the pastor of Wellspring. He said the pastors at the conference would need to hear it because our story was so unique in how Michael and the whole church approached things. Apparently it’s common in Kenya for leaders to oppress and mistreat their up-and-coming leaders. And it’s common for those young leaders to stage mutinies and split churches to take power.
Ronnie said they would be blessed and impressed by how smooth and God-honoring the Wellspring story was. Here is a link to my sermon, Give Your Disciple a Double Portion.

After that, we broke into two groups and ran two different workshops: “Impartation of Genuine Prophecy” and “Impartation of Genuine Healing.” Yes, the names of the workshops are over-the-top, but we wanted people to be interested, and they were! The idea was to teach on both Healing and Prophecy and then to demonstrate them. Unsurprisingly, our prophetic team had several powerful prophetic words for people. It was impactful for the pastors to see our young people give prophetic words. In the Kenyan, Ugandan, Rwandan cultures, prophecy is reserved for the special, most honored ministers, but our team was just regular folks. Hunter taught the workshop, but he let the team minister... that was the introduction of THIS young prophetic minister!
On the healing side, Michael taught on healing and fielded many questions. Two things interrupted up our ability to demonstrate healing on that day (Fortunately we would have another chance the next day). One issue was that the people started standing to ask questions rather than come up for healing during the demonstration time. We were NOT anticipating that, but it seems in keeping with what we've noticed about Kenya. People consider power and miracles normal, but sound biblical teaching is more rare, so they had many theological questions. Who could blame them?
Secondly, we ran out of time because every planned element of the conference went long. Usually, I'm pretty laid back, but that was nothing compared to how little mind Kenyas seemed to pay to time! We ended up about 1 hour behind schedule, so we had only 30 minutes for the entire workshop instead of an hour and a half. We did get to minister some deliverance/inner-healing to at least one lady though.

After the workshops, we split up AGAIN and went with two different ministry leaders to two different ministry opportunities.
Kariz and Count-Me-In
A few of us went to a village that was way out in the wilderness. The road to get there was so rocky and steep that the van we rode in almost got stuck a time or two. At the village, the Count-Me-in team played some hype Christian music for the school kids, and we danced in front of everyone. That’s the order of service for these events. Then Eric preached his first sermon ever! Here are some pics.
Afterward, the kids swarmed us, touching our skin and hair. I wondered how many white people they'd ever seen. They LOVED my kids and we snapped this pic.
Gideon and Tez
This story is pretty interesting. The night before, Hunter and Dalise both had demonic dreams. Hunter woke up fighting a spiritual battle in prayer, and Dalise’s dream actually involved Hunter and a few other people fighting a lion. The team spent time in spiritual warfare prayer that morning, and we went into the day with our spiritual discernment radar active.
When the team got to the ministry place with Gideon and Tez, the team broke into two teams AGAIN. Some people went to a hospital to pray for people, and two people stayed back at the church to preach at a church seminar that we found out we were leading 24 hours earlier.
The hospital team prayed for and encouraged many patients, and they snapped this pic of an actual monkey climbing into the hospital window!
The two people that stayed behind at the church were Hunter and Dalise. Hunter was told he’d be speaking at the church seminar about 24 hours ahead of time, so he had very little time to prepare. It's pretty common for big plans to be made last-minute like this. It's also customary for churches to put out posters for church events like this one. See if you can spot Hunter!
Here is Hunter’s account:
“While at the church, I was asked to speak. I felt led to share about how I was awoken the night before, attacked and confused. While preaching about spiritual warfare, I got hit with a wave of dizziness and confusion. I then shared about how Dalise had a dream the same night about her, me, and other people killing a lion who was attacking us, so I led everyone in a prayer against the enemy and witchcraft. Dalise also got up and preached her first sermon ever! They brought up a few people for healing, one of which was a young man with cerebral palsy. After praying over him, he began walking laps around the room without his cane! They told us he could only take 2 or 3 steps before!
After we flew back home, Gideon messaged me/us and said about a week later, over 200 people gave their lives to Christ in the same village where we came against spiritual warfare. I believe God was using us to breakthrough those things, so that He would bring many to Him!”
Wow!
