Faith of the Centurion
From the Pastor's Desk
Many of you know I'm a collector of fine Jesus testimonies. I love hearing stories about how God has moved in people's lives, and many of you already know that Miguel Valle has a wonderful and powerful testimony. Last week, he was featured on a testimony podcast called The UnSeen Story.
Click here to hear Miguel's testimony: He Is Everything To Me.
I've heard Miguel's testimony before, and many of you have as well, but when I listened on this podcast, it sent me into a deep moment of praise and worship! This version of his testimony is the best I've heard, and I feel like he included details and connected dots in the story that I'd never heard until now.
Miguel has grown in many ways over the years since his conversion. As God has been developing and maturing him, Miguel has grown better and better at telling his story.
The only problem with having an amazing testimony is if you can't tell it. Well, this recording is definitely a top-notch telling of the story of God moving in Miguel's life.
From the Sermon Notes
"Faith of the Centurion" | Gospel of the Kingdom
Matthew 8:5-8 | John 1:27 | Luke 7:3, 7:6 | John 5:19 | John 5:30 | Luke 22:42 | Hebrews 4:16
What we Believe
- Jesus does Nothing on his own accord he follows God the Father's will
- “I am not worthy to have you under my roof.” “I am not worthy to untie his sandals.” We are not worthy to have God in our lives, and yet God made a way for us to have His Spirit live within our very selves
- It was always God's plan to cleanse, save, in-dwell, and include the Gentiles. Jesus was willing to cleanse the unclean leper, and He was willing to go to the Centurion’s house to heal his servant. Jesus did not turn away the Gentile because it was always His plan to graft them into His people.
- Jesus is a man in authority, and also under authority. The Father is His authority. Jesus did not seek His own will, He sought the Father's will.
- Humbling one's self is not the same as trashing one's self
How to Obey
- In prayer, acknowledge that you are not worthy of God as a response to God's glory. He will come into your life and make His home within you. If you acknowledge His worthiness, He will assign your worth onto you.
- The power to live the Christian Life is continual submission to God's authority
- The medicine for our self hatred is actually taking our eyes off of ourselves and turning them to Jesus. Looking up to Jesus, magnifying Him instead of yourself, will create a healthier self image.
- Marvel at the King of the kingdom. You get into the kingdom based on having a relationship with the King of that kingdom.
How to Walk Intimately with God
- The way to intimacy with the Lord is to praise and lift him up...and then watch as he unites us with Him by lifting us up in our humility
- All of our prayers should be with focused on God who is king, and the request for His kingdom to come to earth.
