In case you missed it
From the Pastor's Desk
In case you missed them, here are two videos I want to make sure you see. The first one is the Wellspring Campus Update that Joe gave to the first service a few weeks ago. The second service didn't get to see this, so if you missed it, please watch it here.
Wellspring Campus Update
The second video is extremely long, but worth it. Many of you know that our very own Miguel Valle was invited to speak at an event in Chicago called the Freedom March. He got to share his testimony of coming out of the gay lifestyle to follow Jesus.
Here is a LINK to the live-streamed video on the Freedom March Facebook page.

Notes from the Sermon
What we Believe
Scripture is profitable for teaching. To hear the voice of God in scripture, we must understand it in its context, and to understand the scripture in context, we need the gift of teaching in the church. Isolation can make it very easy for the devil to confuse us. Not everyone will be able to understand the Bible as well as others; that's why we have teachers and gifts of teaching in the church body.
The scripture is profitable for reproof and correction: We must welcome rebuke and correction. The Bible is a love letter to us, and love includes rebuke when it's needed. Rebuke is God telling us, “This is wrong. Stop.” Correction is God telling us, “This is the way; walk in it.” God will convict you of sin and give you the right way to walk.
When God rebukes and corrects us, it is specific. He tells us what we are doing that is wrong, and he tells us what to do that is right. When Satan condemns, it is a general feeling of wrongness and condemnation, but he never tells you to do what is right. Satan's goal is to make you hide. God's goal is to have you come to Him for forgiveness and restoration.
The scripture is profitable for training in righteousness: We must approach training with persistent patience, knowing that all training takes effort AND time. Training requires time, rebukes, correction, devotion, and persistence.
Scripture is breathed out by God. God’s breath makes things alive. What God breathes out is scripture. The scripture is not just a textbook. It is living and active.
Step 1: To hear the voice of God In Scripture, we must understand the scripture in context. (to understand the scripture in context, we need the gift of teaching in the church).
Step 2: To hear the voice of God In Scripture, we must welcome rebuke and correction.
Step 3: To hear God's voice, we must read and wait for the Lord over and over again. We must invest time into training, which requires work, discipline, and persistence.
Before reading, open your heart for whatever the Lord may have for you (rebuke, correction, instruction, joy, encouragement, etc.)
We need to be humble and patient, ready to hear things that we may not necessarily want to hear.
- Ask the Lord if you need to repent because you have treated scripture as a textbook, keeping God and his directions at arms' length.
- Ask the Lord if you need to repent for prioritizing emotional experiences in worship or prayer meetings, for example, over the diligent study of scripture.
- Ask the Lord to help you value hearing from Him in his word.
When hearing the voice of God, is it contrary to scripture? If so, it is not from the Lord.
