Calling all prayer warriors

From the pastor's desk

Last year, we released a prayer Journal called the Seeking Journal. It provided a guideline for us to write specific prayers in our daily prayer times. One of the sections was titled "Pray for your enemies." At first, I skipped that section in my daily prayers because I didn't feel like I had any enemies. However, the Lord put it on my heart to begin praying for witches and Satanists who may already have been cursing Wellspring even though we didn't know about it yet.

After we had been praying for these nameless enemies for a few weeks, during Wednesday night prayer, we prayed in tears that God would actually send us a witch or a Satanist that we could bless to their face. The very next Sunday a Satanist showed up to church. God had prepared us for him, and over the of the summer, he renounced Satan and gave his life to Jesus!

I'm writing now to call us to attention as prayer warriors again. On Sunday morning, Oct. 6, during the 11am service, a woman in our church received deliverance from an evil spirit. The deliverance was loud and took a few minutes while some in the church laid hands and prayed and others continued worshiping the Lord in song. Deliverance is nothing unusual for us. We see lots of it week by week, but this time it alerted us to something.

During the service, a few of our prophetic team members felt that we were coming under attack from witchcraft.

On any normal Sunday, if these trustworthy prophetic people told me they felt a witchcraft attack, I would take them very seriously. On Sunday the 6th, along with their prophetic insights, came one more chilling warning that is making me take it VERY seriously. At the moment the woman was delivered of the evil spirit, she heard it say its intention and its assignment for the church. As it left it said something to the effect of, "I'm here to stop the growth of the church."

For whatever reason, it is somewhat common for a defeated spirit to leave and also name its assignment as it leaves.

Here's one more interesting fact along with our call to prayer:

One of the volunteers on the coffee team was out in the lobby during the worship service and had no idea what was happening in there. After finishing up his duties, he went into the Worship Center and was overwhelmed with a sense of peace that made him begin to cry. He didn't know what was going on or why the room was so filled with the peace of God. One second later, I announced to everyone that the deliverance was over and the woman said the evil spirit was gone.

Over the course of Sunday, there were several things that people felt and there were several things that MAY have been God speaking to us. We are still praying about everything and seeking clarity, but I am quite confident in one thing: It's time to gather as a church and pray for unity, spiritual protection, and wisdom like it matters... because it does!

Pray in your small groups. Pray with your kids, roommates, and friends. Pray in your one-on-one prayer time with God.

Join our Wednesday prayer meetings in the Worship Center:  8am - 9:30am & 6pm - 7pm

  1. Pray blessings on whoever may be cursing us (Jesus said to bless those who curse you).
  2. Pray for protection for the leaders of the church, the individual members of the church, and the families of the church.
  3. Pray Ephesians 4:1-6 over yourself and the church.

Notes from the Sermon

Sermon Title: Make Disciples - What Does it Mean to Hear God's Voice?
Scriptures

What we Believe

God speaks by putting things in our hearts.
God speaks by putting ideas in our heads.
God speaks to his sheep. His sheep hear his voice.

How to Obey

Reject the lie that you don’t hear from God.

How to Walk Intimately with God

Pray a simple prayer:  “Heavenly Father, I believe you speak. I believe you will speak to me. What do you want to say today, Lord?"

Consider this question: Could it be that God is speaking to me, but I haven’t noticed it yet? Read Job 33:14.

Consider these questions: Are you like Samuel who heard from God but needed to be instructed in order to realize it? Are you like Gideon who heard from God, but needed to test/weigh what he THOUGHT he was hearing?

If you have received an assignment from God, it doesn't mean you're automatically equipped for it. It means you need to do whatever it takes to get equipped.
